When you look at the Ford EcoSport crossover, its small size makes you doubt its ability to carry even five people in complete comfort, yet its Fiesta underpinnings seem to be just enough. However, you couldn`t possibly fit three rows of seats within the same wheelbase, right?
Wrong. Apparently, Ford has announced that they will be making a seven-seater variant of the EcoSport, yet its wheelbase will remain the same. They will achieve the necessary space by increasing the crossover’s rear overhang, without altering the wheelbase in any way.
This is the first time we`ve heard about this being done on a car like this, so we are interested. Also, the entire engine range will be carried over unchanged, yet performance will definitely not be on par with that of the smaller version, as it will have more weight to lug around, and probably won`t be as aerodynamic.
The car will be first launched in Brazil, and if it proves successful there, Ford will make it available elsewhere. No official date for its unveiling has been released, yet car.blog.br say that it is, in fact a real thing, and that Ford will be putting it on sale in 2015.
