Ford Donates... Old Boots

Ford makes another step to help disadvantaged children in Africa and joined the "Boot for Africa" campaign that calls people to donate their boots to allow African children to play football. The UK subsidiary of the American manufacturer donated more than a hundred pairs of boots to the Ford African Ancestry Network which is currently involved in many other charities, including the well-known Black History Month Celebration.

"Everyone has been supportive and generous with their donations and I hope that our contribution has helped Boots for Africa," Warley, Dunton and Daventry production plants manager Neil Samuels said.

The Boots for Africa campaign is an initiative that started with the help of Sheffield FC and attracted the support of many important names. Sepp Blatter, President of FIFA, is one of those who applauded the charity, saying that such an effort deserves all the praises because football should be available to all.

"The Boots for Africa campaign is a fantastic initiative and one we applaud at FIFA as it continues our aims of ensuring football is made available to all and helping to build a better future," he said.

But getting back to the automotive world, this isn't he first time when Ford gets involved in such actions. Earlier this month, a one-of-a-kind Ford Mustang was sold for $250,000, with the money to be used for the support of youth education initiatives. Codenamed WWII Warbird Mustang, the car was built by Ford's Racing division based on the 2010 Mustang GT with Glassroof. Its name refers to an AirVenture Xperimental project vehicle, while the ‘10’ designation represents the model year of the Mustang, plus the 10-millionth engine from the Romeo Engine Plant.
