Ford Denies Comments Referring to Focus Electric Delayed Launch

We previously reported that Ford Focus Electric won’t be available for most customers until next spring except New York and California which will receive the car by the end of this year. The situation took an unexpeced twist when officials from Ford sais later that there will be no delay regarding the delivery of the Focus Electric what so ever. Among the many triggers for the Focus EV delayed launch was also Ford’s David Finnegan the Chief for Battery Vehicles. The executive pointed out that the rest of the 19 markets won’t see the Focus EV until next spring.

“Ford remains on schedule to deliver the initial Focus Electrics by the end of the year. We will be rolling out to the remainder of the initial Focus Electric markets starting with production ramp up in spring 2012.” the exrcutive was quoted as saying by thedetroitbureau.com. We’d like to note that this is turning more and more into an advertising campaign which was not scheduled from the beginning.

The Focus Electric car will be manufactured at the facility in Detroit suburb of Wayne, Michigan which is happens to be the production facility of the normal-powered Focus. And will produce the future plug-in and conventional hybrid versions of the Ford C-Max. The manufacturer began production of the two vehicles very slowly and carefully as it plans to avoid any unexpected errors due the new technology.
