Ford Creates New Sub-Brand in China - Rebadges Old Focus

To better capitalize on the Chinese car market’s strong points, Ford has created a sub-brand specifically for the country, called Jia Yue, which roughly translates as ‘Good Leap’. The logo for the new company is oval in shape, yet it features two wings set onto a black background.

Their first car is a rebadged version of the old-generation Focus sedan, a car which despite having gone out of production in Europe, is still being manufactured and is selling well in China. However, with it selling so well, it is questionable whether or not Ford will stop production of the ‘Focus Classic’, as nobody has heard of their new sub-brand yet, and it would not sell nearly as well without the Blue Oval badge.

The best-proposed explanation for what might happen is that the Jia Yue car will undercut the Ford-badged version in terms of pricing, otherwise, if they are both priced too similarly, one will sell very well, while the other will not sell at all.
