Ford China sold 935,813 vehicles last year, a 49 percent increase from 626,616 vehicles delivered in 2012, the manufacturer announced earlier this week.
Changan Ford Automobile (CAF), the brand’s passenger car joint venture in China, sold 678,951 vehicles in 2013, an increase of 62 percent over the previous year. The Focus was Ford’s best-selling vehicle in China, with 403,640 units delivered in the country.
Ford posted a new sales record for its commercial vehicle joint venture as well, with Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) selling 230,006 vehicles, up 15 percent compared to 2012, when 200,008 units were delivered.
“2013 has proved to be a milestone year for Ford’s accelerated growth in China as we delivered on our plan to bring to China seven of Ford’s next-generation global vehicles, including the Ford EcoSport, the Ford Kuga, the new Fiesta, and the all-new Mondeo. In 2013, strong Chinese customer demand for our greatly expanded lineup of vehicles allowed Ford China to set yet another annual sales record,” said John Lawler, chairman and CEO of Ford Motor China.
