Ford C-Max and Grand C-Max Gain 1.0 EcoBoost Engine

Since Ford is using its turbocharged 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine to power the all-new Mondeo, it comes as no surprise that they are now offering it on the Focus-based C-Max and Grand C-Max.

The engine will be offered in two states of tune, with either 100 hp or 125 hp (@ 6000 RPM!), both of which offering the same economy and emissions figures, returning 55.4 mpg (5.1 l/100km) in the C-Max and 54.3 mpg (5.2 l/100km) in the larger Grand C-Max.

Emissions are 117 g/km and 119 g/km of CO2, respectively. Along with the new engine, Ford has also added a new top spec trim level to both cars, called Titanium X, and includes stuff like a panoramic glass roof, part-leather heated front seats and new 17-inch alloys.

Pricing in the UK starts at £17,695 for the C-Max and at £19,795 for the larger variant. It seems that Ford’s 1.0-liter engine is a real success, having been ordered on 25% of all Focus models bought since its launch - we expect a similar percentage in the C-Max and Grand C-Max, as well.
