Purpose built to impress through high volumes, Ford's new C-Max model has met and even succeeded the expectations the car maker had for the model, selling in the short months since its launch in late 2010 a little over 31,000 units. The achievement makes the C-Max the third best-selling model on the Old Continent.
The great sales numbers of the C-Max come neatly wrapped in a very good start of the year for Ford. In the two months that have passed in 2011, the Americans strengthened their position in Europe by reporting a total of 104,700 units in February on all the 50 European markets.
"It's great to see the C-MAX having such a strong sales start," said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford of Europe. "It's already our No. 3 best-selling model after the Fiesta and Focus, and we've already sold over 31,000 C-MAX models in just a few months after launch."
The model is hoped to bring an equal degree of satisfaction in the US, where it will soon begin to retail. For the local market, the C-Max will be powered by a pair of engines, a 2.5l iVCT I-4 and a new 1.6-liter EcoBoost I-4.
In the US, the model will come as a 5+2 version, comprising twin sliding rear side doors and a new seat folding concept for second-row seats. Safety wise, the vehicle comes with AdvanceTrac with RSC (Roll Stability Control) and curve control, dual front and side airbags with smart occupant sensor, first-, second- and third-row Safety Canopy side-curtain airbags, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, driver and passenger-side blind spot mirrors.
