Officially presented for the 2021 model year back in July of 2020, the Ford Bronco is one of the most “rara avis” contemporary models the automotive industry has seen as of late. Patience is running thin among both the fan and customer base, but it seems the Blue Oval has prepared yet another twist to the story.
Without a doubt, the reinvented SUV was one of the most important introductions of the troubled 2020, eagerly awaited by Ford aficionados as well as the company's rivals (so they can compare it and try to best it as quickly as possible). But it has been a very troubled journey, so far.
We have seen people go madly in love for certain amenities – such as the white top option or the combination between the off-road Sasquatch package and the Getrag-sourced seven-speed manual transmission. So far, as far as we can tell, the white top is in limbo, while the stick shift rock crawling needs to wait until the release of the 2022MY.
Others decided they waited enough – Ford recently postponed first deliveries to summer, and the alleged production start date has been pushed back to May 3rd (from an initial report of coming live late March). Some even went down the route of quickly sourcing an older Bronco from the used car market – where choice is now flourishing.
Now, a new report comes to add even more headaches to reservation holders still undecided on the exact configuration. That’s because Ford will apparently introduce a second limited series after the sold-out 2021 Bronco First Edition. It’s exactly the one many were waiting for – a Bronco Heritage trim to bridge the gap between past and present.
With the source of the news being the highly active bronco6g.com forum, speculation is already running rampant with regards to information that hasn’t been shared. This is mostly because there are a lot of unknowns at the moment, as there is no physical description attached to the report. All we get are two body codes: E5G - 2 Door Adv. AWD Heritage Lmt. / E5H - 4 Door Adv. AWD Heritage Lmt.
At least, we can be sure it will be offered on both the 2-Door and the 4-Door models. As far as styling and pricing is concerned, it’s anyone’s guess. We can probably assume it’s going for looks inspired by the original from 1966 and pricing that’s more geared towards the $57,410 (2-Door) First Edition rather than a $28,500 base trim.
