Ford Europe has announced plans to increase production of the Fiesta ST by 15 percent in order to cope with the double amount of orders received for the vehicle in the first six months of sale.
According to Ford, more than 3,000 orders have been placed for the Fiesta ST in the United Kingdom alone since the end of March, which means a sale rate well ahead of the projected 5,000-per-year target. As a result, Fiesta ST production will increase by 15 per cent to 60 vehicles assembled per day.

“The customer and media reaction to the Fiesta ST has been extraordinary – it’s really become an instant classic and orders have been extremely strong,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president of Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford of Europe.  “We are doing what we can to increase production and try to meet demand.”

The new Ford Fiesta ST is powered by a 1.6-liter EcoBoost petrol engine that delivers 180 HP. The power enables the supermini to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 139 mph (223 km/h). The Fiesta ST can also be ordered with a Mountune engine upgrade that increases power to 212 HP.
