Force India Debuts Summer Package at Silverstone

With the British Grand Prix only days away, Force India have announced a new series of updates to their VJM02, aimed at bringing the Silverstone outfit their maiden points in Formula One. While admitting frustration for missing out on the point-scoring positions in both Australia and Monaco, Mallya revealed the team has prepared a new aerodynamic package for the Silverstone race.

We have a fairly large upgrade scheduled for this weekend. We will introduce changes to the front wing, bodywork and floor with one or two detail updates elsewhere as well. It's a significant step forward and I am very pleased that the team has been able to explore, build and then get this on the car before the summer break,” said Mallya, in a press preview of the Silverstone race.

The Indian billionaire insisted this year's British Grand Prix will be more special for his team than ever for at least two reasons. Firstly, they will perform before a home crowd – maybe that's a bit of an overstatement, considering they are seen as an Indian outfit – and secondly, they'll introduce their summer package into the 2009 challenger.

Team's drivers are also enthused going to Silverstone this weekend, with both drivers expecting to at least make the Q2 on Saturday and, luckily, get away with a point or two on Sunday.

The whole team work so hard and quite often for little reward in terms of points and results, that I really hope I can put on a good show while they can see it. With the new upgrades coming through I'm pretty confident that would be possible,” said Giancarlo Fisichella.

We have a new aero package at Silverstone and I am really looking forward to driving it. We've looked at the numbers back in the factory and it shows a clear improvement so I am keen to get my hands on it and really try and mix it up in the midfield,” added Adrian Sutil.
