Foose Tampers with the F-150 Pickup

Everyone who's passionate about cars knows Chip Foose. Besides being star of the TV show “Overhaulin”, he is a legend in the world of hot rods and every celebrity and American car manufacturer who wants a one of a kind ride has called Foose and asked for his help. This time Ford's turn came, because they wanted to do a special version of their F-150 pick-up for the SEMA show.

“We asked Chip Foose to design a tough, muscular street rod based on the Ford F-150 FX2 Sport pickup that will knock the socks off even the most hard-core boulevard cruiser fan. And let’s make it available in less than a year before the 2007 SEMA show.” said Ben Poore, Ford Truck group marketing manager.

Now, the time has come for this baby to be unveiled, and it features a 5.4 liter Triton V8 engine superchared and intercooled, which delivers 450 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 677 Nm (500 lbs-ft.) of torque at 4,000 rpm. Foose has modified the suspension of this Ford, equipping it with Eibach coil springs in the front and Eibach leaf springs in the back, all sitting on 22 inch forged, polished Foose rims, and P275/45 R22 Pirelli tires.

On the exterior, the Ford F-150 Foose Edition has unique front fender badges, a stripe package and upper and lower grilles designed specially by the man himself. Chip Foose also had to lend his autograph to be embroidered on the car's headrests and had added a leather covered center console to top it all.

This is how the Chip Foose describes his new creation: “The Ford F-150 lends itself to accenting because it’s so recognizable as America’s favorite pickup. It’s already widely accepted because it comes in the most varieties and customers spend more on it than any other truck to personalize it even further. And it’s clean, too. That’s why I drive an F-150 – it’s great looking, powerful and yet very minimalist in its design.”
