Focus ST Takes on Mazda3 MPS, Impreza WRX, M3

Take this with a grain of salt, but Ford has released a video which focuses on the new Focus ST’s strengths over its rivals. The American hothatch proves its worth against a Mazdaspeed3 (Mazda3 MPS), a Subaru WRX and a BMW M3 on a twisty mountain road.
Somehow, the Focus ST is better than the Mazdaspeed3 because it has a variable steering rack and a system that reduces torque steer. While we do agree with this assumption, the Mazda has a better, more powerful engine, and it’s already a very old model, so it’s natural that it doesn’t have these things.

Meanwhile the Subaru WRX comes up short because it hasn’t got an overboost function. While that might be true, the Ford is front-wheel drive, while the Subaru has various driving modes and AWD.

Lastly, the comparison to the M3 could have been made with any supercar out there. Money being no object, wouldn’t you much rather have a BMW?
