Focus Global Test Drive Ready to Kick Off

The moment American manufacturer Ford has been preparing for several months now has arrived: the Focus Global Test Drive will kick off on Friday, February 18, near Madrid, Spain. The test drive, massive in scale, will be attended by some 100 participants from 13 countries.

The gathering place for the start of the test drive will be the National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA) outside Madrid. From there, the Focuses and their test drivers will take off on the surrounding roads, to be put through their paces by bloggers and consumers alike.

Hoping to gain a bit more attention than the one the test drives themselves will be able to build, Ford will give most of the participants $10,000, to be donated to a charity of their choice. In addition to the Ford approved amount, each participant is free to raise some more for the same purposes.

The test drivers will be greeted at the starting point by rallyist, stunt driver, drift champion and more recently, Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust. He will be accompanied by other celebrities as well, including filmmaker Jason Pollock.

“Social media is a powerful tool when used for philanthropy and to highlight innovative products like the new Ford Focus,” Pollock said. “I’m thrilled to be participating in this historic social media event and to be raising money for my father’s FREE Partnerships.” (FREE Partnerships is a nonprofit that works to support community organizations that are partnering with schools).

More details on the test drives in Spain can be accessed by visiting the car maker's Facebook page.
