Floyd Mayweather Takes “The Choice of a Gentleman” with 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600

Floyd Mayweather said September is the month he waves goodbye to the world of professional punch throwing. “It’s not fun as it was back then. It’s business now. I don’t really enjoy it any longer,” he said. However, that is clearly not stopping him from spending hundred of thousand of dollars on new cars.

With his decision, some fear the Manny versus Pacquiao fight loses its importance. It's like Mayweather lowers the stakes. For us, judging by his behavior and his habits it rather feels like the 38-year-old boxing champ is getting the heebie-jeebies. We said it before, every time the five-division champion is preparing for a big fight he starts buying extremely expensive cars.

Normally, he’d go for things like a Ferrari Enzo or a Bugatti Veyron, but maybe he realized retirement won’t allow him to enjoy the same lifestyle he has been going on the last years. So he went for something cheaper this time. Sure, that doesn’t mean the 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 is not among the most luxurious one can find.

A limo Mercedes calls “The Choice of a Gentleman”, the flagship of the new S-Class comes with a 6-liter twin-turbo V12 engine delivering in its US-spec configuration an output of 523-hp and 612 lb-ft of torque. Merc Almighty? Not really, but definitely a wealthy boy’s limo. It takes about 5 seconds to hit the 0 to 60 mph mark, but the top speed is unfortunately limited to 130 mph.

When we first checked it out at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show one thing clearly stood out, and that’s the interior; it’s where the magic happens. Mayweather is a materialistic person. He publically admitted it on several occasions. So we’re assuming it's not just the performance that convinced him.

The new Burmester 3D surround system, articulated tables, cooling and warming cup holders are also part of the reasons he chose this particular model to join his opulent car collection.

Well, one thing is sure, in case he retires and decides to quit working, he could easily live off his cars for decades.
