Things you can fit into a Florida man’s kitchen: the usual kitchen furniture and utensils, a couple of gorgeous dogs, a wife and a well-kept, tiny smart car. And you’re still left with plenty of space.
Patrick Eldridge drives a smart car, his wife Jessica says in a now-viral post on Facebook. As preparations for Hurricane Dorian hitting Florida were underway, she and her hubby talked about getting both their cars to safety.

She already had hers in the garage but for the smart to fit, as tiny as it is, they had to clean out some stuff. Patrick wasn’t in the mood for organizing, so he bet Jessica he could park his car inside their kitchen. He opened the double doors and drove it inside, where he knew it wouldn’t be blown away by the strong winds brought about by Dorian, which was heading for the state as a Category 2 storm.

You can see Jessica’s post at the bottom of the page as well. Patrick even made sure he didn’t get dirt on the floor by placing some kind of carpet under the smart, which is a terribly considerate thing for him to do.

Jessica says she’s not bothered by the car being in there because they still have plenty of space to move around, but she would like Patrick to move it once the winds die down because the dogs are “confused,” SF Gate notes.

After hitting the Bahamas as a Category 5 storm and causing unprecedented damages and considerable loss of life, Dorian’s strength decreased, but it still remains powerful. It missed the Eldridges’ hometown of Jacksonville by miles and is now headed towards the Georgia, South and North Carolina coastlines.

This just goes to show that some men would do anything for their beloved smart cars. NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, for instance, raised quite a few eyebrows, and elicited laughter and disbelief when he got into a smart fortwo last week, his go-to vehicle to beat the often terrible NYC traffic. Though he barely fit in there, he drove off in it, proud of his very tiny and practical car.
