Of all the moments to fall on your bike, this is arguably the worst: one Florida dude faceplanted on his bike as he was desperately trying to flee the cops. Double ouch.
It happened in Largo and was captured on the cellphone of a female passenger in a passing car, the Daily Mail notes. No word on why the guy was running from the cops or what happened to him afterwards, so we might as well focus on how hilariously bad his blunder was. And hope he wasn’t significantly hurt.
When the woman starts filming, a police cruiser with the lights on has already engaged in pursuing the suspect on the bike. He’s seen pedaling furiously, as if actually thinking he could successfully evade the cops on his bike, when they’re right at his heels, in a car. The patrol car isn’t speeding.
At one point, the dude tries to mount a rather steep curb but he overestimates his skills and / or bike, and ends up faceplanting on the grass. A cop runs out from the cruiser and tases him, so that he’s rendered immobile until another officer comes from a different vehicle and handcuffs him.
While we don’t know what the dude did to warrant the police chase, from the fact that the cop used his taser, we could infer that either he had a record of violent behavior or he’d done something to try and harm the officers during that part of the chase that is not shown in the video.
As the video cuts off, the suspect is in handcuffs, still on the ground, still dazed from the fall and the tasing. Next time you try outrunning the police, Florida dude, think of a faster means of transportation. Preferably, one that you can handle better, too.
