There are definitely worse ways to emerge from a car accident than soaking wet, scared but otherwise unharmed.
One Florida driver lost control of his SUV while driving through Lutz, mistook the gas for the brakes and crash-landed into someone else’s pool. It happened when another car cut him off at an intersection, he told the police, as cited by Fox 13.

The good news is that he managed to avoid the impact with the other car. The bad news is that, well, his vehicle became almost fully submerged in Blas Simon’s 5.5-foot deep oasis. Luckily, Simon was inside the house, having just trimmed his plants one hour earlier. So he wasn’t hurt either.

“I was in the kitchen cooking lunch, and it almost sounded like it was a plane that landed in my yard,” Simon tells the media outlet. “I looked and you could see a massive splash. I ran out to see if he was OK, and he was climbing out of the sunroof.”

Simon is happy the accident didn’t happen earlier, when he was trimming his plants, because he would have been in the car’s path of destruction. He is also happy that the driver wasn’t injured.

As for the damages to his fence, lawn and pool, he says he’s no longer fretting about them. His homeowner’s insurance should cover it.

“At the beginning, I couldn't believe it,” he says for Fox 13. “I was like, ‘No, this cannot be happening, right?’ And then after a while you just kind of roll with it. What else are you going to do?”

That’s probably what this poor driver is also telling himself right now. The report doesn’t say anything about the damage to the car, but depending on how long it was in the water before it was pulled out, it could be a write-off, especially if the level of the water went above the dash. Which it looks like it did.
