By their very nature, teenagers are meant to get in trouble, but a handful of them from Flint, Michigan, just took “trouble” to a whole new level, after taking part in a $640,000 heist.
It happened at the weekend, at an overflow parking lot of a local dealership. Police are still trying to figure out how the kids got their hands on the keys, ABC12 says, but the bottom line is that they simply walked up to the parking lot, got inside the trucks and drove off.

They returned 3 more times, taking a total of 8 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD trucks estimated at $640,000. All of them have been recovered by the police, but one is in pretty bad shape, as it was later used to try and break into a nearby ATM.

Police were alerted of the theft by passers-by, who saw the trucks driving off the lot. OnStar was used to track the vehicles down and, truth be told, the juveniles didn’t really make it hard for the police, as they abandoned them in a wooden area behind a high school, leaving them with the engine running.

The report notes that police were able to arrest a 14 and a 15-year-old on the spot, and that they are facing 11 counts each for their involvement in the heist. The other suspects are still at large, but police believe it won’t be long before they are all in custody.

“Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said the two teens remained in custody Tuesday after juvenile petitions were issued charging them with malicious destruction of property over $20,000, safe breaking and nine counts of unlawfully driving away an automobile,” ABC 12 notes.

If this was the teens’ idea of a wild night out on the town, they should have toned it down just a little bit.
