Fleet Forum to Promote the Nissan Leaf

The Japanese from Nissan are hard at work trying to make the entrance of the world's markets of their Leaf electric vehicle as easy as possible and, despite the fact that we haven't seen much movement from the Leaf lately, Nissan is still looking for high-profile partners that would promote the vehicle.

This week, the Japanese have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fleet Forum, an association created to support humanitarian organizations to improve and professionalize the management of vehicle fleets.

According to the agreement between the two, the Japanese automaker will deliver, through a lending program, five electric vehicles to Fleet Forum, who will be able to use them for free in the first year. The five Leaf, although unlikely to reduce by themselves the carbon footprint of the organization (Fleet Forum operates a combined humanitarian fleet in excess of 80,000 vehicles), are also meant as testing vehicles for Nissan, who will keep gathering data about its first electric vehicle.

"Fleet Forum aims to set the standard in the market for transport management on Road Safety, Green driving and cost efficiency,”
said Fleet Forum director, Paul M. Jansen.

“Fleet Forum Members enables its members to improve their performance in safety, emissions reduction and cost efficiency of operations. The partnership with Nissan perfectly fits in Fleet Forum's intent to offer our members a range of (knowledge) products and services.”

“The participating members will benefit directly, but in the end all members will benefit. Together with Nissan we will gather and analyze the test data. We will build knowledge on electric driving.”
