Flaming Porsche in New Jersey

It was quite a flaming week for super sports cars, as at least two such not-so-often-seen on the roads vehicles have been sent to the scrap yard as the result of fire.

It all started on June 21, when a Lamborghini Murcielago was reduced to ash in Brooklyn, after apparently two uncaring individuals stole the over $350,000 vehicle and apparently, set it on fire.

More recently, about a day ago, to be more precise, a 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo (997) cabriolet was shot while spitting flames from the engine compartment, somewhere in Somerville, New Jersey.

According to My Central Jersey, the cause of the fire is unknown, but Police Captain George Fazio suspects an electrical problem. The results of the blaze, are, however, obvious, with Somerville Fire Marshal Barry Van Horn saying the damage will turn the Porsche into a total loss.

The fire was signaled by Rich Ganim, a local resident which smelled something unusual and alerted the driver. According to the good Samaritan, the fire grew in intensity as soon as they opened the hood.

"It sounded like steam was giving off, and a lot of it,'' Ganim told the source. "It almost sounded like a rocket taking off.''

Don't be sad though, because apparently the owner is not very affected by the incident. According to several sources, the guy you can see to the right of the car, speaking on the phone, is the owner of the Porsche. Look how casual he is, as he talks on the phone, probably telling the one at the other end what an awesome sight he has before his eyes.
