While even the Giula, the replacement for the 159, still seems to be a distant dream in the future for Alfa Romeo, a flaghsip car, the equivalent of the old 166 is not even on the drawing board yet. However, Sergion Marchionne said that once the new Maserati models begin to sell, hopefully well, a flagship Alfa, to sit above the Giulia is in the cards.
It will probably share its platform with a Maserati model, probably the Ghibli, and will, of course, be rear-wheel driven. Regarding the 4C sports car, Marchionne says that it will be pushed back further, probably not debuting at the Detroit Motor Show, with the most likely venue to host the event being the Geneva Motor Show. He also said that it will not be made in large numbers, and that it will be made in Italy.

He also made it clear that Alfa Romeo is not for sale, and that they have not given up on the famed brand. He also said that the current Lancia Delta will get a successor, which will be sold outside of Europe bearing a Chrysler badge.
