"Five Things We Hate About the Tesla Model S" Is a Vehicle Virgins Rant

Back in the days when the P85 (non-D) was the range-topper of the Tesla Model S, we delivered our fair share of negative conclusions in our Model S review, but it seems such a game never gets old, with Vehicle Virgins now releasing a "5 things we hate about the Model S" video.

The YouTubers got their hands on a P85D and they took the time to point out the bothering aspects of the electric sedan, while occasionally dipping into the sprinting potential of the EV.

One of the aspects highlighted by the guys had to do with not being able to use the Model S on the track due to overheating. And while there are partial solutions to this, Tesla seems to be fine with the current no-track-day status of its cars. Nevertheless, given the fresh Tesla-animated Electric GT championship, we expect things to change sooner rather than later. And while the Model S racecars don't pack any powertrain mods, a next-generation Tesla vehicle adding transmissions to its electric motor(s) would certainly be an interesting proposal.

Speaking of such solutions, using the electrical hardware below its full potential to prevent overheating is one of them. And this is exactly what NextEV has done with its NIO EP9. While the electron juice-powered hypercar did set new Nurburgring EV record, its 1,360 PS mean it should've been able to lap the Nordschleife even quicker than 7:05, but the scheme mentioned above is the one that prevented it from doing so.

Let's get back to Tesla

If you ask us, Tesla still has a lot of ground to cover until it can brag about delivering a premium vehicle ownership experience on all fronts.

Meanwhile, though, the Palo Alto carmaker keeps expanding the set of benefits offered to its customers. Let's take the Telsa's sprinting assets, for instance. The Model S P100D is now the world's quickest production car and can run with a freaking Ferrari 488 Spider in the quarter mile. However, this didn't stop Tesla from announcing a new velocity-related Model S P100D upgrade for December, which till turn to the sedan into a 10.6s car.

More importantly, Tesla's Autopilot Hardware 2 is making serious progress towards a fully autonomous driving future. And, as much as we love handling our cars, we have to admit the Autopilot's recently-showcased abilities are impressive.
