The 2014 Toyota Highlander had part of a huge advertising program, aided by the famous Muppets characters and even a football star. Not to mention the fact that its main commercials were aired right in the middle of the Big Game. But is it that good?
Well, guess that you have to take one for a test drive yourself to figure it out, but here, with the help of the guys over at AutoTrader, we’ll tell you the most important five features the 2014 Highlander comes with and makes it better.

First of all you have to notice that its exterior is manlier, it has a frowned front fascia with a big trapezoidal grille, wider more pronounced fenders and a sleeker silhouette. So as a father, you can now be proud with the appearance of your family car.

Then comes the new interior, which has been redesigned and comes with soft-touch materials, fancy stitchings and a more sturdy, quality overall feel. And if we’re here, take a look at those extra three seats at the back that makes the Higlander one of the very few midsize crossovers to come with 8 seats as standard.

The smooth 3.5-liter V6 engine and sharper transmission under the hood is another thing worth mentioning, as Toyota upgraded both of them to be more responsive.

With modified drivetrain comes an impressive fuel economy. The V6 engine is the perfect one to suit the model and returns 25 mpg on the highway, which is pretty good for an 8-seater vehicle with 270 hp. Even better, the Highlander can be had with an electric motor to aid the gasoline one and achieve 27 mpg city and 28 highway.

Better handling is the next improvement on the list, and this has been done by reworking the whole suspension, which now has double wish-bone links in the rear. This resulted in less body roll and better cornering.
