A total of 21 “collectible vehicles” owned by Fast and Furious star Paul Walker will go under the hammer in January 2020, as part of the annual Scottdale auction. Among them, some of the rarest Bimmers ever made.
The collection that will be sold in bulk at the event comprises everything from a 2000 Audi S4 to a 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302S. But by far the stars of the lineup are the seven BMW M3s. Of them, two are E30s, are the rest specially modified variants of the E36 M3.

These five E36 cars, known to racers as Lightweights, are among the rarest ever made by the performance division of the German carmaker. Based on a generation of cars produced from 1992 to 1999, these M3 are part of a very limited run of just 125 units.

All have been designed by BMW in response to calls from American racing teams for the creation of a vehicle homologated to take part in sports car racing. The model was introduced in 1995 are is stripped of any dead weight: no radio, air conditioning, leather seats, tool kit, and sunroof.

The doors were made with aluminum skins, there was no insulation blanket under the bonnet and in the boot the carpet only covers the floor. In all, these changes made the Lightweights tip the scale 91 kg (200 lb) sooner than the standard M3.

The five that belonged to Walker sport an aggressive rear wing and front spoiler and comes with an Alpine White paint scheme, adorned by BMW Motorsport colored checkered flag livery. Under the hood there’s a 3.0-liter straight-6 engine that develops 240 hp.

As per Barrett-Jackson, the organizer of the Scottdale event, the five cars will be the most E36 Lightweights ever sold at a single auction.

“We’re deeply honored to offer the amazing Paul Walker Collection at our 2020 Scottdale Auction,” said in a statement Craig Jackson, CEO of Barrett-Jackson.

“Paul’s impact was immense through both his influence as an actor in the ‘Fast and the Furious’ movies and his philanthropic drive as the founder of Reach Out Worldwide. We’re proud to help continue Paul Walker’s legacy by offering his esteemed collection to their new caretakers at our flagship Scottsdale event.”
