Fisker Ready to Partner with Larger Rivals

It doesn't happen too often to hear such a thing, but a company involved in the automotive industry is ready to join forced with a more important player. We're talking about Fisker, who also revealed today that it wants to start selling the Karma electric vehicle in China in the second half of next year.

"We're going into China in the second half of next year. We're already finalizing negotiations with a major Chinese distributor," CEO Henrik Fisker told the Reuters Autos Summit in Los Angeles, according to a report by Autonews. "The Karma is a big car. It's the size of a Porsche Panamera or a BMW 7-Series and you are still able to drive this car getting an average fuel economy that is better than a Prius."

Obviously, Fisker refused to comment on the names his company would partner with, but hinted that if such an agreement comes to a conclusion, it could actually create tough competition for the Tesla - Toyota joint venture.

"A strategic partnership with somebody, that's a possibility,"
Fisker said. "We have had talks with several car companies about that, but it has to be not only the right timing but the right fit."

Fisker Karma was one of the models launched at the Los Angeles Auto Show, with the company claiming that it expects to reach deliveries of around 100 units per year end, but series production will expand more next year.

“The Fisker Karma represents our goal of bringing an eco-friendly vehicle founded on the principals of ‘Pure Driving Passion’ to consumers around the world,” said Henrik Fisker, CEO.
