Fisker Names New Board Members

Fisker Automotive, the manufacturer of the Karma plug-in hybrid, announced today the addition of two more members to the Board of Directors, namely Hans-Joachim Schöpf and Barry Huff. The Board of Directors is led by Chairman Ray Lane, Managing Partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers.

Schöpf’s career spans 38 years and includes some of the most senior positions in the German automotive industry. He has worked for large OEMs and served on the boards for Ballard Power Systems, Vancouver, and Valmet Automotive, the manufacturer assembling the Fisker Karma.

He has held critical positions at Mercedes Benz, including Executive Vice President and Member of the Board of Mercedes Car Group with links to Chrysler, Mitsubishi and McLaren, Senior Vice President (SVP) A-and C-Klasse, SVP Passenger Cars, overall advanced development and IPM, and SVP manufacturing S- E- and C-Klasse.

“His experience overseeing the development and implementation of new automotive technologies such as electronic stability control and common rail injection gasoline and diesel engines, as well as new business operations like MbTech engineering GmbH, is unmatched,” a company statement reads.

Barry Huff also brings to the board four decades of international financial experience around Deloitte LLP’s services to client audit committees and management.  As Vice Chairman from 1995 to 2008, he oversaw and directed accounts for the multi-billion dollar accounting firm’s largest clients.

“Huff’s extensive automotive auditing experience as Deloitte's Lead Client Service Partner and Advisory Partner to General Motors, and Advisory Partner for tier-one automotive suppliers PPG Industries and ArvinMentor, further expands and reinforces the level of auto industry knowledge contained in this already solid group of leaders,” the company says.
