Green automaker Fisker is reporting loses of $30- (€23.5-) million, following the flooding of New Jersey port, earlier this week. Aside from the 16 cars which suffered extensive fire damage, yet there’s still a long way to go, to justify the reported loss - the total number of destroyed cars is closer to 300, if we are to calculate each car as costing roughly $100,000.
This is a huge loss for a low-volume manufacturer, like Fisker, which sold around 1,000 cars so far in the year - it’s just over 30%! However, the manufacturer reports that the event will not affect the company’s finances in a negative way, as all cars were insured. The 300 Fiskers are just a small portion of the 10,000 cars lost in the New Jersey port, on the same day.

The fact that the cars were insured must have really given the manufacturer piece of mind, as they are already struggling with sales and reputation - this could have been a very powerful blow, which may have made them go under.
