Green US automaker Fisker seems to be in deep trouble. After announcing earlier that they were seeking investors and a possible partnership with a major mainstream automaker, they have now announced that they have accelerated their search for a suitable partner.
The makers of the excellent-looking Karma, a car which has been called mediocre by the thorough team over at Consumer Reports, are interested in finding a partner by the end of February. We suspect that by this time they may really enter the deep end of the problem, financially-speaking.
Furthermore, they have not made a car in six months, as they have run out of battery packs for the Karma range-extender hybrid, which is currently their only model, due to the fact that their sole supplier, A123 Systems went bankrupt.
If they don`t find an investor soon, the company may need to be sold off completely.
Nevertheless, Fisker has developed its own proprietary extended-range hybrid technology, and we`re sure there`s a money-laden Chinese automaker nobody has heard of looking to get that technology cheaply, and get a foothold in the US, as well.
