Well, after the first images of the 2014 M3 and M4 leaked online earlier today, it seems like the gloves are off and everyone started pouring out everything they had on the two new models, starting with Autobild.
The German publication seems to have some really serious connections with BMW as they just published the first videos we ever saw of the new models, being driven fiercely on an unknown track. They also had the courage to announce the exact specs of the cars: 431 HP and 550 Nm of torque.
Those numbers are quite impressive. Even though the HP figure didn’t go up too much, when it came to torque, the E92 M3 with its almighty 4-liter naturally aspirated V8 really falls behind developing only 400 Nm.
The incredible performance of the new engine is due to the exquisite work of the Motorsport people that managed to turn a 3-liter 6-cylinder inline unit into a monster. Sure, it uses two monoscroll turbos but the results are impressive, nonetheless.
With this power comes a weight of under 1,500 kg (3,300 lbs, lighter than the E46 model, for example) that allows the M4 to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds, going towards a top speed of 280 km/h (175 mph).
These numbers are exceptional. According to Autobild, as the narrator in this movie says, the new M4 will even be 25 percent more economical than its predecessor, not that it would matter to anyone, anyway.
