First Tesla Model 3 in-Depth Review Is a Welcome Confirmation

Despite more and more people getting their hands on the brand new Tesla Model 3 (and, at this rate, it will continue to be "brand new" for at least a few months to come), we still haven't seen any real review of the electric sedan so far.

The closest we've got, probably, was that walkaround video of a multi-coat red painted one which revealed some of the interior and storage space thanks to the open doors and trunk. Still, there was no info accompanying the footage, so we were left to draw our own conclusions based on the little we could see.

Now, the Palo Alto company's first mass-market product ended up in the hands of the guys at OCDetailing (great name, by the way, as long as it's only a joke), and they shared a few their impressions, together with a more detailed video.

Our host is called Joseph Torbati, and even though he works for OCDetailing, he could switch to hosting his own car show any day. He's definitely better than Chris Evans, even though that comparison doesn't really do Joseph any justice.

As you'd expect given the nature of his job, Joseph focuses on the Model 3's design and details, and since he's not allowed to drive the car for reviewing purposes, he also sticks to a static presentation. However, that doesn't make it any less interesting as we get to have a closer look at a few features that hadn't been shown before.

Stuff like the door panels, for example, which seem to reproduce the same simple, fuss-free design that so controversially characterizes the dashboard. Joseph also credits the interior as being "made to carry people," and he even puts his six-foot body on the line for a quick demonstration on the rear seats.

He says it's very roomy, but while we do agree there's tons more space than in a Mercedes-Benz C-Class or BMW 3 Series, it still looks a bit uncomfortable. Particularly the knee angle appears to be less than ideal, something that's going to be felt over the longer road trips this car can take with its 310 maximum range.

As we've seen in the previous video with the red car, the trunk is massive. What we couldn't have noticed was the second drop-down compartment underneath the main trunk's floor which should be enough for a grocery run or some sporting equipment, for example.

The ginormous glass roof couldn't have escaped the attention of somebody who tints windows for a living, and this car is going to get it panoramic roof tinted - something we expect a lot of Model 3s to go through, especially those in hotter areas.

Joseph goes behind the wheel as well, but as we've said before, don't expect the Model 3 to move one inch during this review. He only talks about the screen and the dashboard design, so we're going to have to wait a little longer for the first dynamic impressions. Nevertheless, click play below for the most in-depth analysis of the Model 3 so far.
