One month after the first shipment of Toyota Mirai fuel cell vehicles reached the US shore, a batch of Mirai fuel cell vehicles was unloaded at Toyota's import centre at Portbury, near Bristol.
Wait, what? Wasn't the Mirai destined only for Californian customers first?

Yes, it was and still is, but the models we are talking about here are part of the first consignment to reach Europe, ahead of Mirai's official launch in September.

In other words, as part of Toyota's global introduction of the world's first mass-produced fuel cell saloon, the four-door Mirai is being offered in selected European markets - the UK, Germany and Denmark.

The reason? A hydrogen fuel supply and retail infrastructure are being developed in these countries.

"With Mirai and its fuel cell technology, Toyota is working on delivering clean, safe and enjoyable mobility for the next 100 years. We are looking forward to the start of deliveries of the first Mirai to customers from September and to see the future taking shape on European roads. As with Prius 15 years ago, we are proud to bring yet another ground-breaking innovation to the marketplace," said Karl Schlicht, Executive Vice President Toyota Motor Europe.

In case you wanted to know, we can tell you that the limited number for Mirai fuel cell EVs available in the UK this year has already been snapped up.

To what concerns California-based customers, Toyota launched the online order platform for the Toyota Mirai fuel cell EV, which means future clients can start filling out the form and wait for Toyota's approval.

The Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle will offer an EPA-estimated 67 miles per gallon equivalent (mpge) city/highway/combined and an EPA-estimated driving range rating of 312 miles (502 km) on a single fill of hydrogen.
