Chassis number 1G1Y83D40L5107060 may not appear to be anything other than a well-equipped Corvette. Still, this model actually happens to be the first retail convertible from the eighth generation of the American sports car. Finished in black over Adrenaline Red and black, this 3LT trim level with the Z51 Performance Package will be auctioned for charity.
The entirety of the hammer price will benefit the United Way for Southeastern Michigan, a non-profit organization that provides Detroit's less fortunate youth with quality education. On that note, let’s delve into the specification of this V8-engined land missile with a power hardtop.

As you can clearly tell from the photo gallery supplied by Barrett-Jackson, the cabin is gifted with GT2 seats and red belts that contrast nicely with the Nappa leather upholstery. Red contrast stitching, a red 12 o’clock marking on the steering wheel, and red-painted brake calipers are featured as well.

The range-topping equipment group for the Corvette includes carbon-fiber trim, suede on the upper door cards, and leather on the lower door cards. The Performance Data Recorder is a highlight in its own right, a system that overlays performance-related information over high-definition video.

If you’re not into track days, the PDR can be used as a dashcam. Moving on to the Z51 package, the Golden Bowtie sweetens the deal with Brembo brakes, a fancier suspension setup, a more aggressive rear-axle ratio, an electronic limited-slip differential, specific aero improvements, Michelin PS4S rubber shoes, heavy-duty cooling, and a less-restrictive exhaust system that unlocks five more horsepower and five more pound-feet.

495 horsepower at 6,450 rpm is the most the LT2 dry-sump V8 has to offer, along with 470 pound-feet (637 Nm) of torque at 5,150 rpm. The most potent entry-level Corvette ever will be joined by a flat-plane crankshaft engine for the all-new Z06, which is scheduled to roll out as a 2022 model.

After that, Chevrolet will complete the C8 family with a couple of turbochargers and a couple of hybrids. Expected to arrive in 2025, the Zora is rumored to feature e-AWD and a combined output of 1,000 HP.
