All proceeds will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the country's leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research.

The winning bidder will get to choose from any interior, exterior and stripe color combination offered by Ford for the Mustang before the vehicle rolls off the assembly line and go with either a manual or an automatic transmission.

The 2015 Mustang GT will be launched with an updated version of the 5.0-liter V8 engines that will produce "more than 420 horsepower and 396 pound-feet of torque".

The redesigned pony car will become available in the fourth quarter of the year.
