The very first production 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 crossed the block for a cool $650,000 at Barrett-Jackson in Arizona this weekend, with 100 percent of the proceeds to benefit Cornerstone Schools.
The powerful musclecar was acquired by Rick Hendrick, owner of Chevy-powered NASCAR team Hendrick Motorsports and the same man who payed $2.1 million to get the first production models of both the coupe and convertible versions of the 2014 Corvette Stingray last year.
As a brief reminder, the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is powered by a naturally-aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine that produces 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque. The vehicle goes on sale this spring from $75,000, including destination and the gas-guzzler tax.
During the same event in Scottsdale, the 2014 COPO Camaro was hammered at $700,000, with proceeds to benefit the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans.
