In the absence of truly new bikes, it looks like Suzuki is doing a great job trying to become one of the manufacturers with the highest number of special edition models. And since one can never get enough of such special machines, here’s Hamamatsu’s long-time partner Yoshimura with its own reinterpretation of the 2014 GSR750 beast.
Derived from the mother-of-all-Gixxers, the GSX-R750, the GSR is a naked, slightly lighter version of the iconic sport bike, a different visual treat for the lovers of middleweight beasts and who are also in for a more upright and comfy riding position.
This is the second special edition iteration of the GSR, with the “official factory” one being revealed earlier at the beginning of April. Still, the SE GSR750 created by Suzuki is only a differently-liveried machine, though a very good looking one, nevertheless, but with no improvements on the technical side, at least none that we know of.
While the info on the Yoshimura GSR750 is quite scarce at the moment of the writing, we can tell that the new Special Edition brings a different flavor to the street game. For starters, it’s the Yoshimura R11 high-performance exhaust which sticks out and the belly pan which is offered as standard trim. Apparently, the Yoshimura version is also offering a rear seat cowl and multiple other custom parts in aluminium and lightweight alloys which add to the cool looks.
Obviously, this Yoshimura GSR750 could not be left with a stock livery, and the paint job it received mixes several old-school sportbike accents from previous GSX-R machines, while managing to remain a non-excessively flamboyant presence. No word on how does the Yoshimura SE compare to the 106 horsepower at 10,000 rpm, 82 Nm (59.7 lb-ft) at 7500 rpm stock bike, but we have reasons to believe it is a better machine. We’ll come up with a price and number of such bikes Yoshimura plans to build as soon as we have news on these matters.
