First Official Image of BMW 2 Series Active Tourer Leaked

BMW is getting ready to take the veils off their first front-wheel-drive car, a day enthusiasts feared would come for quite some time now. We already got to see how the new MPV will look like thanks to a couple of carefully taken spyshots a while back but today, we uncovered what seems to be an official photo of the car.

Auto Bild, 14.02.14 Edition
Apparently, the guys from Auto Bild will have the new BMW showcased in the upcoming edition that is set to reach readers worldwide tomorrow. A photo from that magazine showed up on a french forum and here we are, showing it, in turn, to you.

Since Auto Bild got to do a full shoot with the new model, we’re guessing we’ll get to see the car in its entirety tomorrow, maybe even early in the morning so you should keep in touch.

Whilst the exterior design is by now known alongside the name (2 Series Active Tourer or SAT for short) the only thing we’re not sure about right now is the engine. The car we spied wore the 225i moniker on its tailgate which would suggest a completely new engine.

It could be the same B-engine family that powers the 2014 MINI Cooper range. Most likely, it will be the 2-liter powerplant but taken up to well over 200 HP as the name suggests. My presumption is that it’s going to have around 230 HP and it will be also used on the JCW MINI in the near future.

Expect the car in the flesh at the Geneva Motor Show, next month.
