It took Japanese auto maker quite some time before it managed to deliver the first unit of its Leaf electric vehicle in the UK, despite the fact that the first batch of 67 vehicles arrived in the UK last month. That minor detail aside, the British automotive world is richer as of today with the introduction of the Leaf on the market, one which is expected to get only greener from now on.
According to What Car?, the first British owner of the Leaf is Richard Todd, a business man from St Albans. He was soon joined by the second Leaf owner in the UK, Smooth Radio DJ Mark Goodier, both of them being picked for the honor because of the simple fact that they've placed their pre-orders ahead of every body else.
“As an engineer I have always wanted an electric car – I've just had to wait for the battery technology to arrive. Hybrids are good, but the driving experience of an all-electric vehicle is way beyond this,” Todd said according to the source about his brand new Kuro black Leaf.
“The Leaf is ideal for us as a family with the range and size being more than adequate for most of our driving needs.”
In the UK, the reservations for the Leaf have begun last September, Nissan facing here a lot less outrage from customers on the waiting list than it does in the US. In the UK, the Leaf sells for GBP30,990, before applying the country's GBP5,000 grant meant to support the adoption of electric vehicles.
