The first customer to take delivery of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Klasse Cabriolet immediately after the market launch has been presented with the keys yesterday at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen. The customer is top business owner Dieter Funke, while car in question was an E 250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY Cabriolet in palladium silver.
Dieter Funke is not at his first Mercedes-Benz cars, having owned several so far. "I really enjoy it. I covered more than 210,000 kilometres with my CLK Cabriolet, and was always happy with it – simply a wonderful car," Funke said.
The version chosen by Funke is fitted with a 150 kW/204 hp petrol engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission, priced at 49,861 euros in Germany.
The E-Klasse cabrio features a roof which can be opened and closed automatically within 20 seconds, at speeds of up to 40 km/h. The car features the new Mercedes' AIRCAP automatic draught-stop, a new system which is used to reduce turbulence in the interior. So much, that one can have a phone conversation, in hands-free mode, at speeds of up to 200 km/h.
The soft top comes equipped, in terms of safety and besides the now usual systems like ABS and ESP, with roll-over protection, seven airbags and drowsiness detection.
"The highly qualified team in Bremen produces the new Cabriolet with great commitment and enthusiasm. Mercedes-Benz is adding a particularly attractive product to the successful E-Class family with this car. It is therefore a real pleasure to hand over the keys to the first owner personally today," Peter Schabert, Manager of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen, said in a release.
