Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Jaguar is planning to launch the first crossover SUV that isn't a total girl's blouse. The F-Pace has already been seen testing on a number of occasions at the Nurburgring, but this is the first time the interior has been seen and it hold a huge surprise: a manual gearbox.
Jaguar made headlines last year when the F-Type coupe and roadster models received both all-wheel drive and a manual gearbox. Even though demand for performance cars with 3 pedals is slowly dwindling, the Brits chose to give keen drivers what they wanted.

We never expected to see a stick in the middle of the F-Pace's dashboard, but this is unmistakably what we have here, especially when Jaguar automatics offer a round metal dial, not a stick, to select driving modes.

The rest of the interior is made up of parts from the all-new XF, revealed only a month ago. That's not surprising, consdering the XF and F-Pace use the same platform and come out at virtually the same time. A 10.2-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system is sitting in the middle of the console, followed by the air condition control unit, which reminds us of the Peugeot 308.

Aluminum surfaces are used here and there, but the overall impression is of a sober car that's been designed to appeal to people that otherwise would buy a BMW X3 or Audi Q5. There's plenty of space and the build quality is nice, but we wish they would have stuck a conventional handbrake and not a button.

We believe that this prototype is equipped with a four-cylinder engine, since the exhaust is to the side like on a BMW X3 xDrive20d. At least two brand new 2-liter diesel engines will be made available, making 167 PS and 380Nm or 180PS and 430Nm. Both should offer the choice between this 6-speed manual or the 8-speed automatic.

We can guarantee there will also be a V6 option for the F-Pace S, making 380 PS and 450Nm. A 3-liter twin-turbo diesel will also be available, pushing out 300 PS and 700 Nm of torque.

The F-Pace, Jaguar's first-ever crossover, will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015.
