The upcoming BMW 1 Series Sedan is scheduled to be publicly unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show, which takes place in November. From there, the market launch of the car is set in early 2017.

BMW has published a few pictures of the new 1 Series Sedan, but the guys at Car News China managed to obtain photographs of multiple examples, all spotted in the wild. The photo gallery is completed by press images of the upcoming 1 Series Sedan.

BMW will manufacture the 1 Series Sedan in partnership with its local joint venture associate, Brilliance. The China-exclusive version of the 1 Series will be available in three versions - 118i, 120i, and 125i. According to those at Car News China, each of them might be available with a single trim and design level, while the 118i stays the base model.

BMW already has a strategy that involves eliminating trim levels, and just letting customers choose an engine, transmission, and traction system configuration.

From there, a client could get a different look depending on the various “design” lines that will be available to them. Usually, these lines are called “Luxury,” and “Sport,” but there is also an M package available along with them.

The 1 Series Sedan from BMW is built on the company’s latest platform for this class, the UKL, which is a front-wheel-drive configuration. The unique context of the 1 Series Sedan makes it the first model with this body style that has front-wheel drive and wears the BMW badge.

The same UKL platform is used in multiple models from the MINI range, which was also rumored to receive a sedan. BMW employs the UKL platform for the 2 Series Active Tourer and 2 Series Gran Tourer models, which were the first cars BMW offered with a front-wheel drive configuration.
