With less than a month to go until the start of the all-new Formula E, fans should now be thrilled to discover that the first tickets for the event are on sale.
The first round of the 2014-2015 Formula E starts on September 13th in Beijing, China, on a street circuit, with the championship’s 10 teams bringing famous names to the action, including Alain Prost and Michael Andretti, along with green supporter Sir Richard Bronson.

Fans can get their tickets from one of the three online outlets - the ShuiniaoTicket platform specially designated for local Chinese fans, the official Formula E page and the global Ticketmaster website. For those who forget their tickets, they can also be bought on site, depending on the number of spare seats.

There are two types of tickets - Gold and Platinum - depending on the location of the grandstand, all tickets being for reserved seats. Prices start from €55 ($72.6/RMB488) and children under 5 years old will have free entry.

The first race will be held on a temporary street circuit around the Olympic ‘Bird’s Nest’ Stadium, seeing the 10 teams and their 20 drivers compete in single seater electric high-performance cars.

We should remind you that all racecars are identical, leaving the competition to revolve around each driver’s skill to make the most out of them. Each is fitted with a battery and energy recovery system that are not exceeding 200 kg (441 lb), which sounds fantastic when you think the Nissan Leaf’s battery alone is 300 kg (661 lb).

Another interesting fact is that during test and qualification sessions, the system will output a maximum of 200 kW (272 hp) while in race mode it will give only 133 kW (180 hp). However, there will be a DRS-like button to unleash the full power on some areas of the track.
