BMW’s i division required a huge investment to be set up but that was only the beginning. The Germans are now looking to make people understand exactly what the i3 and i8 represent and why they are important.
In this regard, they introduced the BMW i Geniuses, people that are specially trained to know all there is to know about the products so that they can then explain this easier to those interested. At the same time, they are capable of helping you solve some of you problems, just like the Apple product Geniuses have been doing for quite some time now.
Things are going even further these days, with the first dealership destined solely for i cars opening its doors in Stevens Creek, a small community located near Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California.
Located in Silicon Valley, you can imagine that there’s a big market for eco-friendly, electric cars around there so opening such an exclusive dealership was a good idea. As a matter of fact, 10 percent of new cars sold in the area are electric or plug-in hybrids which is roughly 10 times more than the US average.
The facility has everything an i3 or i8 owner could wish for and will only attend to these two cars. There are three Level 2 charging stations available 24/7 for the public, free of charge while the employees are more than willing to help out with anything you might need.
“Our BMW i facility caters to only the new BMW i3 and the growing electric car lifestyle in the Bay Area,” BMW i sales manager Tiffani Wyatt said. “And we have a staff of four BMW i Geniuses who are here to educate and provide extensive product knowledge on what BMW is trying to accomplish with the i3.”
That sounds like a plan and we know for sure that the company is planning to launch more of these sites around the world in order to increase the popularity of the i3 as the i8’s demand is so high, orders are backing up over 6-month waiting lists.
