Surprise, surprise... BMW M opened its first exclusive dealership. That's the good thing. The bad thing is that no, it is not located in Europe. Nor the US. No. It's in Singapore. That's right, Singapore. The M store will be operated by Munich Automobiles, a subsidiary of Prestige Cars Singapore. It will open to the public on August 2.
For the opening, BMW M and Prestige brought on site several of the M-badged vehicles, including the the X6M, X5M, M3 and M6. The store will not only be a place where such vehicles will be displayed, but also a place where M owners can take their car should they discover something wrong with it and have them fixed.
The 100,00 square showroom will also house M accessories. Through a special wall fitted with headphones (Singapore's first soundwall), visitors and possible customers can hear the M engines roar. Another wall of the showroom will showcase a display of BMW M’s history, while a special room is dedicated to photographs taken by fans.
According to sgcarmart.com, the location of the store is not exactly what one would call ordinary, but rather secluded. But, then again, M is not your ordinary car either.
"We decided on this location because we want to differentiate ourselves from the mainstream locations that were filled with car showrooms,” Veronica Chua, the store's marketing manager told the source.
“Moreover, we are not afraid of the lack of walk-in customers because we are confident that our top-of-the-line service will enhance consumers' buying experience, leading to a positive word of mouth for the M Showroom."
Initially meant to design and engineer racing models for competitions, the BMW Motorsport division (M) slowly turned into the tuning arm of the German manufacturer. The first mass-produced model sold as an M was the 1972 M1, at the same time the only mid-engine BMW model to have entered production.
