Yesterday was a big day for BMW i8 fans in the US. That’s because the Germans came to the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance well prepared, with the first batch of i8s to be delivered on the North American continent.
An impressive list of important people was there to pick up these cars, including names like Tony Fadell (Founder and CEO of Nest), Michael Fux (CEO of Comfort Revolution), John Hendricks (Founder of Discovery Communications), Barry Klarberg (Founder of Monarch Business), Miles Nadal (Chairman and CEO of MDC Partners), Sam Nazarian (Founder, Chairman and CEO of SBE), Patrick Wachsberger (Co-Chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group) and Roger Penske. Yes, that Roger Penske, the Chairman of the Penske Corporation.
“Today marks an exciting day for BMW of North America, as we take another step towards furthering sustainable mobility with the BMW i8, the plug-in hybrid sports car made with carbon fiber,” said Ludwig Willisch, President & CEO, BMW of North America. “We are proud to see the i8, the second of BMW i’s visionary vehicles, enter the market.”
Today, Jay Leno will also be attending the Concours, presenting the special edition model we showed you earlier and then setting it up for auction. May the best man/woman win it and enjoy it as well!
