The first production 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible was auctioned off for $1 million by Barrett-Jackson in Palm Beach yesterday. The winning bid came from Rick Hendrick, the owner of Chevy-powered NASCAR team Hendrick Motorsports.
Hendrick will therefore take delivery of the first 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible that leaves the Bowling Green assembly. He will be allowed to choose both color options before LT1 V8-powered droptop is finished. Deliveries for the C7 Corvette are expected to take place in late August or early September.
As we already told you two weeks ago, the $1 million hammered in Palm Beach will benefit the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer institute, which is supported by the General Motors Foundation for 15 years now.
The Palm Beach-auctioned Corvette is the second seventh-generation model sold by Barrett-Jackson, after the first production Stingray Coupe fetched $1.1 million back in January.
