The annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction took pace this weekend, and one of the most interesting lots there was he first 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition, probably the last edition of the C6 before it’s replaced. With such an impressive pedigree, we’re not at all surprised that the car fetched an astronomical price - $600,000, which GM will donate to charity.
So what else is cool about the car besides the name? Well, GM says it’s their most potent convertible Corvette ever. The 427 in its names comes from the 427 cubic inch engine, that’s 7.0-liters of LS7 V8, capable of delivering 512 PS and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque.
The liberal use of carbon-fiber on the body has resulted in a lower weight of 3,355 pounds (1,522 kg). This means the 427 Convertible will sprint to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. As for the all-important quarter mile, that’s dealt with in 11.8 seconds, which is more than respectable for a stock car.
