Find Out Who Crashed the Most in the First Half of the 2015 Season

For starters, the first half of the season, riders in the three classes have met the asphalt on no less than 471 occasions. The feeder Moto3 class reigns supreme, accounting for 193 wipeouts.

In MotoGP, Alex de Angelis was the rider to sample the asphalt the most, as he counts 10 crashes to date. He is on par with Axel Pons and Sam Lowes in Moto2. Ten crashes is more than other riders experienced through an entire season, and we are not talking about those who usually DON'T crash. Lowes "likes" to crash especially in practice sessions, and then he is regular contender to the podium.

In Moto3, the crashers' charts are led by Karel Hanika and Tatsuki Suzuki, each amassing 11 spills through the German GP. On a strictly statistic basis, Hanika seems to improve, as we are at the half of the season and he is one fall short of the schedule that saw him crashing 24 times last year.

Andrea Iannone improved dramatically his riding

The rider with the best progress to date is Andrea Iannone. A full factory rider in 2015, Iannone only crashed once so far this year, whereas in 2014 by this time, he was already counting six spills.

He crashed 12 times in 2013, his rookie year, whereas he tested his leathers on no less than 14 occasions last season, as he tried to push harder. In Moto2, Johan Zarco has the best improvement rate, with one fall compared to five last year, to date.

Movistar Yamaha's stars Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo have not crashed at all this year, in practice sessions and races alike. As a matter of fact, they are well-known for being riders who rarely make mistakes or take unnecessary risks. In case factories don't have a bonus system for not destroying the bikes already, they should definitely implement one.

Below is a round-up of the most spectacular crashes in the German GP.
