While Renault is testing development mules of the Megane IV RS, the Megane III RS has finished production at the Palencia plant in Spain on July 6. The final example of the breed is currently for sale in the United Kingdom, holding a sticker of £31,930.
The car before your eyes is the 2016 Renault Megane RS in question and yes, £31,930 is a lot of pounds sterling considering that the base price for a 275 Cup-S is £23,935. The Liquid Yellow metallic paint alone is £1,300, while the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires account for £1,000 of the retail price. The most expensive option present in this particular Megane RS, however, is represented by the Ohlins adjustable Road & Track dampers (£2,000).

Offered for sale by Arnold Clark Renault Dundee, a dealership which also sells Dacia and Hyundai models, the right-hand drive Renault Megane RS 275 Cup-S is also equipped with on-board performance tracking, R-Link multimedia system with sat nav, Alcantara on the steering wheel, as well as the obligatory body-hugging Recaro seats. Under the hood, the 275 Cup-S develops 271 bhp (275 PS) and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft) from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) is doable in just 5.8 seconds.

From the first iteration (2009 Renault Megane RS 250) to the 275 Cup-S and 275 Trophy, the French manufacturer has built in excess of 30,000 units of the third-generation Megane Renault Sport. These compact-sized hot hatchbacks found homes in more than 30 countries across the Old Continent, Australasia, and the Pacific. Unfortunately no, the U.S. never got the Megane RS. On the upside, American hot hatch enthusiasts have the Ford Focus RS.

Renault UK communications director Jeremy Townsend had the following to declare: "The Megane Renault Sport has proved popular with critics and owners alike since launch for its focused nature and involving driving experience. The UK is one of the biggest markets in the world for Renault Sport models so it’s fitting that the last ever third-generation Megane Renault Sport should end up here.” And yes, the future of Renault Sport looks bright.

Here's something from Renault HQ: “An announcement on a fourth-generation Megane Renault Sport will be made in the future.”
