Contrary to what that softly-spoken voice inside us all suggests in a know-it-all tone, men are not created equal. The same applies to cars, even multi-million dollar hypercars such as the Pagani Huayra. After L’Ultimo closed the chapter for the coupe, this special-edition model serves as a swansong for the roadster.
Presented with great pomp and circumstance at The Quail along with the celebrations of an Airbus partnership and the opening of a new showroom in Beverly Hills, the Huayra Roadster Gyrfalcon is out of this world as far as attention to detail is concerned. I wouldn’t want to be in the skin of someone who paid $2.4 million for a bone-stock model right now, that’s for sure!
First of all, the Gyrfalcon is the final example of the Huayra Roadster. And secondly, the owner named it as such “to pay tribute to one of the fastest birds of prey.” Adding to the specialness of the name, the female gyrfalcon has a wingspan of up to 63 inches, making it the largest bird in the falcon family.
“These made-to-measure supercars are well-loved in North America, not only for their intense technology and beauty but also for the appreciation of passionate Italian craftsmanship that goes into making them,” explained Horacio Pagani, the head honcho of the Modena-based company.
Imitating the gyrfalcon’s feathers, the white paintwork is complemented by exposed carbon fiber, which resembles the black spots on the bird’s wing. The V-shaped paint scheme on the hood, meanwhile, gives the impression of a predatory bird's beak.
The specialness carries on the inside, where a symbol of the gyrfalcon beautifies the shifter knob. Bird-themed embroideries, luggage, doors, and even a plaque are on the menu, which goes to show how much Pagani is capable of going to meet the customer’s wishes.
Like the regular mode, the Huayra Roadster Gyrfalcon makes use of a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 coupled to a seven-speed sequential transmission. On full song, the Mercedes-AMG engine develops 764 horsepower and an earth-shattering 737 pound-feet of torque.
