FIM Confirms 2010 MotoGP Entry List

We have already reported to you all the changes on the riders' market prior to the official start of the 2010 MotoGP Championship, but the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM) today made it official through the revealing of the entry list for the season in question.

As expected, the list presented by the FIM confirmed the fact that the MotoGP field for the 2010 season will continue to be comprised of only 17 bikes. Despite the fact that two new teams have announced one-bike programmes for the 2010 MotoGP campaign, the number of the competitors has remained the same because of the two teams quitting the championship at the end of 2009.

Obviously, we're talking about the Scot Racing team, whose managers decided to pull out of the MotoGP and switch to the low-cost Moto2 series (for its inaugural season). Also, Hayate Racing, formerly running a single Kawasaki bike for Marco Melandri, decided to step out of the MotoGP for a place in the Moto2 in 2010.

The newcomers are, as revealed during the last months of last year, Aspar (who will come to the MotoGP on a single-bike effort, with Hector Barbera riding a customer Ducati bike) and Daniel Epp's Interwetten team (fielding 250cc reigning champion Hiroshi Aoyama on a customer Honda).

As several riders of the 2010 MotoGP series have left the championship for a World Superbike programme (Chris Vermeulen, James Toseland) or Moto2 experience (Toni Elias, Alex de Angelis, Gabor Talmacsi or Niccolo Canepa), the entry list also has plenty of rookies in 2010.

Just to name a few, there's the former 125cc champion Alvaro Bautista replacing Vermeulen at Suzuki, Aleix Espargaro securing a deal with Pramac Ducati following his successful stint last year or WSBK champion Ben Spies joining Tech 3 Yamaha. But here's the complete list of riders for the 2010 MotoGP season.
